Overview

The twentieth biennial Texas Statewide Conference on Education of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing invites proposals for papers that address a variety of issues in the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing and relate to the conference theme,Mission: Possible.  Proposals will be considered for concurrent strand sessions as follows:

Topics & Key Search Terms

Accessing the general curriculum using research-based, best teaching practices in English, language arts, reading, mathematics, science, & social studies; early intervention/prekindergarten; working with students who are D/HH plus have additional needs; and collaboration between family and professionals. Other topic areas include administrative and legal issues; evaluation of children who are deaf or hard of hearing; instructional technology; sign communication and interpreting; listening and spoken language; and social-emotional development.

Format

Concurrent sessions are 1½ hours long and include time for introductions, discussion, questions and evaluations.  Sessions longer than 90-minute increments (3 hours, 4½ hours, and 6 hours) will be considered.

Proposal

Applications and vitas must be submitted on-line at www.swced.org. If accepted, handouts must also be uploaded at www.swced.org. If technical assistance is needed, please contact Nastassia Rosas at nastassia.rosas@ctx.edu for assistance.

Application Deadline

Completed applications & vitas must be submitted on-line by Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Acceptance notifications will be sent to the main applicant only via email by Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Fees & Expenses

 Presenters selected from the Proposals for Presentations will not be paid an honorarium or be reimbursed for expenses.
Speakers invited to present with prior approval of the committee will be paid a negotiated and approved flat rate contract fee.

Registration

RDSPD/TSD/DHHS personnel are asked to pay full registration as a financial support for the conference. Presenters who are not affiliated with a RDSPD, TSD, or DHHS may attend other sessions on the day of their presentation without paying registration. Attendance on multiple days, dining at meal functions, or requesting CEU credit will require paid registration.

Media

All rooms will have LCD projection equipment. Speakers must provide laptops/computers, connector cables/cords, and/or special equipment as needed for their presentation.

Every effort will be made to meet any requests for other equipment as indicated on the submitted ‘Proposal for Presentation’. Please help keep the conference costs down by requesting only essential equipment.

Changes in equipment requests will NOT be accepted after Friday, May 1, 2026.

Handouts & Copies

Accepted presenters are responsible for uploading handouts at www.swced.org no later than Friday, May 1, 2026 for on-line access by participants. Duplication costs and/or hard copies of handouts will not be provided.
